Synopsis : Evocation de la carrière du compositeur , clarinettiste et chef d'orchestre avec la participation de grosses pointures du Jazz de l'époque ( Lionnel Hampton, Gene Krupa, Ben Pollack etc ..... )..... A Chicago, en 1910, la famille Goodman végète. Le père, petit tailleur en confection, malgré ses lourdes charges, veut faire apprendre la musique à ses fils. Benny, âgé de dix ans, est orienté vers la clarinette. Il devient vite un élève très doué, à la grande satisfaction de son professeur. Pour n'être plus à charge à son père, il s'engage d'abord dans l'orchestre d'un bateau de promenade .....
